Akbar quadri’s “Ek Kahaani” is a pure love story. We live in a complex world where our heart is often in a tiff with our mind and our logic. Circumstances lead us to make decisions that we may not always agree with. The play travels through such nuances and tells the story of two young souls who loved each other since they met as kids but their morals take them on two distinct paths. The story talks about a hardworking boy Aarif who chooses to stay away from his love only to satisfy the expectations others have of him. The burdens of a social education discourage Aarif to express his true feelings. The story makes you meet a beautiful and charming girl Naziya who does not question her love even though she knows that he is leaving her. Nazriya’s life dwells underneath her father’s controlling nature and stops her from taking the leap of courage to stop Aarif from leaving. But fate has its own design. The clock ticks by and a appointment letter for a new job makes Naziya and Aarif come face to face again. ‘Ek Kahani’ is different than many ballads of love in many ways. It does not talk of love as the weakening force but the strength that drives a human to become better person irrespective of the terrain of life. Love requires an ounce of courage to be able to fill your life.
