Akbar and Azam Quadri are writer-directors with a deep passion for storytelling across mediums.

 

They began their journey in theatre, where they experienced the power of live performance and the discipline it demands. Their creative path led them to media studies, where they explored the craft of storytelling through cinema.

They also immersed themselves in audio storytelling, discovering how sound and language alone can create powerful, imaginative experiences.

Television and Film Industry

  • Wrote and directed the children’s film “Shahada Ali” starring Zeishan Qadri and Nidhi Bhist, released in 2020. 
  • Directed a music video for a pop band “Euphoria”released in 2009, screened in Berlin and Rio de Janeiro as a run up event to the Earth summit in Copenhagen. 
  • Former Show Runner at Star Plus and Fox Star India.
  • Directed a music video with Bhumi Trevadi–runner-up, Indian Idol.
  •  Creator of “Kitne Pakistan,” based on an award-winning novel by Kamleshwar.
  •  Screenplay and story writer for “Ishq Kills” (Star Plus).
  •  Worked as a supporting actor in the film “Rockstar,” directed by Imtiaz Ali (2011).
  • Wrote a film for John Abraham Productions (under production)
  • Additional dialogues for “Kismat, Love, Paisa, Delhi”, starring Vivek Oberoi and Malika Sherawat.
  • Currently writing a film with Tigmanshu Dhulia 

Documentary and Translation

  • Translated the award-winning documentary film “Taking Root: The Vision of Wangari Maathai” into Hindi. The film is based on the life of the first African woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize, a pioneering environmentalist.

Theatre and Radio

 

  • Engaged in theatre with visually disabled women at the National Association for the Blind (NAB), New Delhi from 2005-2008, resulting in three major performances in New Delhi and Ludhiana.
  • Founded the theatre group “Antraal Theatre” in 2007 and both written and directed numerous plays.
  • Directed a radio documentary series commissioned by Public Service Broadcasting Trust (PSBT) and Aakashwani in 2006.

Audio and Storytelling

  • Worked with Audible, an international audio platform, providing opportunities to explore more in audio storytelling.
  • Written over 100 stories (Seasons 2, 3, 4) for the award-winning show “Yaadon Ka Idiot Box with Neelesh Misra”.
